What will this role involve?

As a Communications Manager at Oxford Heartbeat, you will be managing and developing a wide range of communications, PR and social media strategies that are critical to our business objectives. You will oversee the growth and consolidation of our brand identity, reach and engagement with our key audiences and stakeholders.

This is an exciting role in a rapidly expanding company: it requires flexibility, and you will be expected to shift gears comfortably and be proactive as your responsibilities evolve. You will lead on the planning and creation of multimedia content for the communications channels that we own or have access to. This includes our social media outlets (Twitter, LinkedIn) and other platforms run by our stakeholder network. You will help to run the Oxford Heartbeat website, and produce press releases and other content for its pages as required.

With support from the Business Development Manager and the CEO, you will steward relationships with key individuals and institutions that can help us gain clinical traction for our product. You will also be responsible for researching and managing applications to innovation competitions and awards, with a view to creating greater awareness of Oxford Heartbeat’s ground-breaking work. There may also be an opportunity for you to spearhead a bespoke PR campaign for the trial of our product.

  • Three years + of experience in communications, marketing or PR
  • Experience of engaging with the medical, science or tech sectors
  • Proven ability to create an array of compelling digital content across different platforms, especially Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Demonstrable website management and CMS skills (in particular Wordpress)
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills
  • Basic image/video design skills
  • (Greater) London based.


  • Experience of running a PR campaign
  • Science/medical PR background, or experience in science writing.
