Contract: Part time role - 1-3 day / fortnight + some flexible ad hoc support

Remix Robotics

Remix Robotics is an automation design agency that builds custom robotic systems in sectors including manufacturing, agriculture, and logistics. We help clients such as DHL, Mercedes F1 and the Small Robot Company leverage automation to solve their greatest challenges.

We are a small, dynamic team that is constantly working on new and exciting projects on the cutting edge of robotics. Projects we have been tasked with developing include:

• A lights-out production facility for 3D printed aerospace components

• An autonomous vehicle unloading system for E-commerce fulfilment

• A semi-automated machine press for streamlining the assembly of fasteners.

• A multifunctional farming robot for autonomous crop tending

Remix Robotics has relied significantly on outsourced engineering contractors with the core team being made up solely of its 3 founders. In 2021 Remix the team will expand to:

• 1 x Business Development + Strategy Lead (Founder)

• 1 x Project Management + Business Development Support (TBC)

• 3 x Mechatronics Engineers (2 x founders)

• 1 x Junior Mechatronics Engineer

• Ad hoc Interns + contractors

About the role

Remix Robotics is looking for a Senior Automation Design specialist to support their development of robotics systems. 

Responsibilities

• Helping set the design strategy at the start of a project

• Support brainstorming and evaluating solutions to novel robotics & automation challenges

• Generating new ideas based on industrial experience

• Providing ongoing design reviews - sense checking electromechanical design + providing feedback for improvement

• Support with the intellectual side of debugging and error analysis.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience working with complex electromechanical systems (Need)

• Experience designing systems with PLCs, motors, pneumatics, actuators, etc (Need)

• Experience working with various materials & processes; for CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, aluminium extrusion, plastic forming etc (Need)

• Experience solving challenging automation problems & debugging complex systems (Need)

• Significant industrial experience implementing robotics solutions on the market (Want)

• Based in London or able to visit London office for ad hoc meetings (Want)

• Specific qualification are not as relevant as real world experience!
