The Company

MediSieve is an exciting medical device start-up company developing “magnetic blood filtration”, a revolutionary treatment for blood-borne diseases which removes pathogens directly from the bloodstream. Our technology is like dialysis, circulating a patient’s blood through an external loop to remove disease causing targets. While dialysis relies on non-specific size based filtration, MediSieve uses magnetic particles coated with antibodies to target specific components, and magnetic forces to extract them. As a Simulation Engineer you will be required to use CAE software to help design and develop MediSieve’s prototype products. This will range from basic CAD and FEA to more complex CFD and magnetic modelling analysis. These prototypes may occasionally require 3D printing, assembly, and testing. Results from the simulation and testing of prototypes will need to be written in technical reports. As well as simulation, there are a number of other areas of engineering, as expected for product development within a small company, that may be required to be carried out. This can range from producing lab test jigs to design for manufacture projects.

Essential Experience

  •        Relevant engineering degree
  •        Medical device/biotech applications
  •        Previous use of any engineering modelling software
  •        High competency of well-known CAD platform(s)
  •        Good knowledge of CFD analysis
  •        Problem solving complex engineering and/or biotech challenges

Desired Experience

  •        tWO years experience in Medical Device/Pharma/Biotech industry
  •        3D printing
  •        Prototype assembly
  •        Blood contacting medical devices/dialysis components/circuitry
  •        Knowledge of injection moulding processes
  •        Use of Fusion 360
  •        Use of Ansys CFX or other advanced CFD software packages
  •        Magnetic modelling experience
  •        Working under an ISO13485 QMS
  •        Knowledge of medical device DHF’s
  •       Working in controlled environments and/or laboratories
  •        Statistical analysis (R)
