The role

The successful applicant will produce a prototype novel chemical extraction system. An initial design specification will be used to conceptualise and construct the multi-stage purification and extraction system. After assisting in installation, the role-holder will run initial tests to confirm the efficiency of the design. The project will conclude with a report considering opportunities for improvements and identify changes needed to increase output from 20 L/day to 500 L/day

Main duties

  • Evaluating equipment for prototype chemical extraction system (>20 L/day).
  • Outlining specifications for parts required (pressure, volume, flow)
  • Assisting in assembly of chemical extraction system
  • Assessing efficiency of system once installed
  • Generating a short report (5 pages) discussing challenges or changes required to increase the scale of system to 500 L/day
  • Communicate with suppliers selecting equipment to specification.
Skills required

  • Understanding of fluid flow for both liquids and solid-liquid mixes.
  • Experience with CAD modeling.
  • Problem-solving.
  • Communicating complex ideas clearly.
  • Self-driven individual.
