Dr Liz Kirby is Cognition Energy’s Operations Director, responsible for operations, finance, and people while supporting strategy development and business planning. As the company scales up, she wants to develop her leadership skills: “Focusing on the right priorities and not getting stuck in the weeds.” She sees the Shott Scale Up Accelerator coaching and structured training as a means to support this.
She highlights that growing the team, looking for financing, strategic positioning, implementing processes to make Cognition Energy more efficient as they scale are all priorities. She notes that the networking and mentoring as part of the Shott Scale Up Accelerator will support this.
As cells in batteries get larger and there is a continued demand from customers for higher current testing. Cognition Energy want to invest in extra equipment capable of doing higher current cell testing and are exploring potential ways to finance that. Alongside equipment they plan to invest in software and data structure; staff and staff development; ISO certification; and their facilities. Strategically they aim to add other types of testing capability, particularly safety testing and certification.
