Reid is Director of Strategy at Cyber Cheltenham, the UK’s largest cyber tech cluster, technology leader with 30 years experience working at the heart of the UK Government in the Cyber Security, Defence and National Security communities. He has led innovation projects in big data, open source software, and cybersecurity, working with a variety of startups, global technology companies and leading academic partners. Reid has formed and led successful innovation teams in government using the Lean Startup methodology introducing entrepreneurial governance to complement traditional management approaches.
Reid has a wide cross-sector network that reaches across academia, industry and government both in the UK and internationally. His entrepreneurial leadership style, and energy have been hugely influential in mobilising and growing technology innovation ecosystems in the UK and beyond. Reid now provides coaching and mentoring for emerging technology leaders in the UK Government.
Reid is also a technology advisor to Cheltenham Science Festival, one of the UK’s leading science festivals. Reid is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the IET and a member of the CIISec. Reid is currently completing a professional master’s degree in software and systems security at the University of Oxford specialising in information privacy research.
Having struggled with procrastination and executive function all his life, Reid was diagnosed with ADHD in 2021. This came as a relief but also an opportunity to address some of the challenges of living with ADHD. While seeking treatment, Reid has become a champion for neurodiversity in the cyber tech community, helping others realise their full potential and harnessing their “super powers”.
