Across the world, 3.4 billion people do not have access to transport. OX Delivers’ UK-based R&D team has developed the 3.5 tonne electric OX truck, designed for on-demand operation in emerging markets. Backed by the UK government through the Advanced Propulsion Centre, the trucks are now being tested in-market in Rwanda and preparing for production.
OX Delivers provides an innovative service using proprietary software, purpose-designed electric trucks, and an entrepreneurial depot-operating model. As the first electric truck purpose designed for emerging and frontier markets, the OX truck enables customers to access electric vehicle (EV) transport on a pay-as-you-go basis and so serve the billions of people who will never be able to afford to buy a vehicle.
Simon Davis has spent nearly 20 years in the automotive industry building simple solutions to complex problems. Since joining the Global Vehicle Trust as the sole employee in 2019, he has led the creation of the OX Delivers business model and technology. He subsequently secured equity and grant funding to enable OX Delivers to be established as a for-profit startup. Simon has been the MD since its inception.
Simon recognises that the company is expanding rapidly, going from 2 to 94 staff in the last two years, and that it needs support and coaching to support that. He sees the Shott Scale up Accelerator as a vehicle to help scale a multinational business and to help with creating and communicating a vision throughout the company.
Since generating its first revenue in March 2021, OX Delivers is now looking to raise $10 to 15 million over the next 12 to 18 months, allowing it to expand operations and scale manufacturing and operations.
