In the UK, over 2000 breweries own more than 8 million kegs; in the world the keg count exceeds 125 million. This supply chain comes with many problems including excess beer wastage, poor distribution, inefficient forecasting, inaccurate sourcing of ingredients, and lost containers.
Tamara Goldstein combines 15 years of experience in technology, finance, and operations. She co-founded the Smart Container Company with Eduardo Garcia, combining a passion for the circular economy and a mutual love of beer.
Smart Container Company has developed a patented IoT device that connects steel kegs to the internet. Our first-to-market volume tracking device and dashboard helps breweries manage their supply chains more efficiently. Since our IoT sensor technology is attached to the keg, we can provide more than just knowledge about the asset itself, but also insights into product quality, consumer behaviours, inventory management, marketing campaigns, logistics and more. We have ongoing inbound interest from most of the multi-national breweries (AbinBev, Heineken, Carlsberg, Asahi, etc). The technology can also be applied to other liquids and industries in the future. and expressions of interest have already come in from Shell for oil, the NHS for oxygen, A-gas for butane, to name a few.
