For decades, traditional fire sprinklers have been the only credible option for protecting homes, and are required by building codes, regulations, and insurers in many regions of the world. While they are effective and have saved countless lives and properties, their effectiveness is not universal, and certain environments and fire types challenge their limitations. Now, with Automist, building owners and fire safety professionals have a powerful new tool designed to complement and enhance fire protection strategies.
Plumis designed Automist to target the fire at its source and operate early for faster suppression. It operates directly off the domestic water main without requiring piping upgrades, tank installations, or bulky pumps. It uses ten times less water than traditional systems by accurately directing a high-pressure mist at the fire source without flooding the entire room. As a ‘dry pipe’ system, it is less susceptible to burst pipes from freezing or breaches from seismic activity.
Yusuf Muhammad is the Chief Design Officer at Plumis, overseeing product development. His role involves guiding the company strategy from R&D to commercialisation and marketing, particularly as they scale globally. He wants to develop skills in scaling a business internationally building on his expertise in sales and marketing strategy. This will help him lead their expansion into the US and Middle East markets. He recognises that the Shott Scale Up Accelerator mentorship can provide support from experienced entrepreneurs who have scaled their businesses internationally.
Over the next 12 months Plumis are moving from a UK-centric R&D focus to an export-driven business, and Yusuf needs to ensure that their strategies for product quality, sales, marketing, and customer support are adapted to meet the needs of large-scale international distributors. The accelerator’s mentorship and resources will be instrumental in helping him effectively manage this transition and guide our company toward sustainable global growth.
